Shafiqur Rahman, Ph.D., is a political economist and academic whose research explores the intersection of economic structures, development, and industrial relations in developing countries. Uniquely equipped with an interdisciplinary background, Rahman holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from BUET, dual MBA/MS in Supply Chain Management from Penn State, and MS in Operations Management and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Oregon.


Currently, Rahman serves as the Executive Director of the Bangladesh Research Analysis & Information Network (BRAIN). Alongside this leadership role, he is a part-time academic in Vancouver, Canada, building on a teaching portfolio from the University of Oregon that includes courses on international relations, the politics of development, and South and Southeast Asian politics. As an active contributor to his field, Rahman has published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Asia-Pacific Social Science Review and presented at major conferences, including APSA and MPSA.
